"Fernando Alonso has proven itself"

Jaime Alguersuari, former Toro Rosso driver, answers the six questions chosen from all that have come through AS.com during the Grand Prix of Australia.

Candidete: Amazing race of Fernando starting at 12th position and finishing the 5th. Can we ask him for anything else? We miss you, champion.

I think Fernando has shown during the whole weekend his quality. The qualification out was because he was looking for every limit while cornering. Even though, he was a second faster than his teammate. Everybody has to work really hard, specially in qualification, for be at the same level as McLaren and Red Bull do. A second and a half is too much. Thank you for asking.

Walter Pol: An oblied question. Who surprised you in the first GP of the year? Who dissapointed? What do you think about Maldonado's race?

Maldonado did a great race, Williams has improved a lot since last year. Sincerely, last lap accident surprised me a lot, because it was not necessary to do what hi did. At least he would have learned something. Even though, Williams will have a great year. Thanks.

Roberto García del Castillo: Will every team copy Mercedes car's front and their F-Duct?

I guess it will inspire a lot of teams in the wind tunnel for the design and development of new pieces, but every team has their secrets and their characteristics. This is how Formula 1 works. Thank you.

@AlexCanovas27: Jaime, why did Kaiser go out? Did he brake or something else?

Michael Schumacher broke the gearbox in the first corner while hi was reducing gear. Obviusly, he could not reduce, and that's why he went long and retired. Thank you for being here.

Pablo Bas: First of all Jaime, I wish you can drive a F-1 soon again. The question is, how did you see Toro Rosso drivers? Do they have any possibility of achieving a podium?

Toro Rosso builds good cars. Ascanelli is a good technician and Mr Petrucci is a great head of aerodynamics. The problem is that we had no development in 2010 but we had a positive 2011. It looks like 2012 will be even better. I still see Williams and Sauber above. Thank you for your kind words.

Marisa: Uf, Jaime! What a start of Fernando. With this weekend, no one would have thought in this result. Why was this? Is him a real genius?

The truth is that the car worked much better during the race than in the qualification, just the opposite way as Mercedes did. Fernando confirmed he is a great driver but I do think they have a lot of work to do. Thank you.
